Over £750 raised in Battersea Power Station Charity Tournament !

Last Friday 18th March GMFC were were generously asked to help assist the Skanska team, working on The Battersea Power Station development, run the tournament with referees, kits, bibs and balls.

The tournament was a huge success with 16 teams with over 120 participants; male, female, young and old and even including a team of our own from GMFC featuring a talented group of boys from our positive lifestyles sessions.

The tournament ran very smoothly with teams split into 4 groups and then the top 2 going into quarter finals on the road to the final!

Games were 5 mins and then extended to 10 mins for the Semi’s and Final!

All teams gave a superb account of themselves and games were played in good spirit with teams  showing great sporting behaviour.

However like all great sporting events eventually a winner has to be found and the winners of the very prestigious Skanska trophy this time around were Keltbray Hammers D & C 2

Congratulations to all involved and on behalf of all of GMFC we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone over at the power station for a fantastic evening and making us all feel very welcome at the Drinks after at the Duchess!

Hyde League update!

Our Hyde League boys have been putting in hard work on the training ground after a fixture break of 3 weeks and the hard work was there for all to be seen in our recent games against The Jason Roberts Foundation and last Sunday against The QPR Foundation.

Against Jason Roberts Foundation we faced a talented young and enthusiastic team who boasted bags of attacking talent and rushed to an early 2-0 lead.

The boys then showed great character to come back into the game through a fine goal from Ashley Nzala and then in the dying minutes Luke Holness came through for us with a fantastic strikers finish under pressure from on coming defenders.

The spirit shown from the boys in this game was tremendous when it would have been very easy for them to accept defeat.

The come back against JRF was a terrific foundation to kick on our Hyde League campaign against QPR.

Again though we found ourself in a sticky situation 2-1 down at half time. The boys battled back to 2 goals apiece and then really pushed on midway through the second half turning the game around to put us in firm control 2-4 and dominating the possession stats.

The goals came from Keyshawn, Eugene, Luke H and Ashley N.

Well done boys great show!

Jack Marciano Passes his level 1 with flying colours!

For those of you keeping up to date with all things GMFC may remember last summer us doing an interview with a certain young man Jack Marciano who has shown a keen interest in coaching and had been invaluable to us volunteering with the GMFC Cobham project and now the Hyde League team.

Jack’s enthusiasm for coaching and his willingness to muck in whenever asked made it obvious that when an FA Level 1 course came up it was only right that we put Jack forward for it to set him off on his coaching journey.

As expected Jack took the course in his stride and really excelled passion this Level 1 course with flying colours!

From all of use at GMFC we would like to say a huge well done to Jack for passing and we look forward to seeing Jack grow as a coach even more.

Great article on Michail in The Voice!

GMFC Ambassador has been going from strength to strength this season with West Ham United, with his performances earning rave reviews from pundits across the country.Unknown

As well as being busy on the pitch firing in the goals but Michail has also been busy supporting GMFC as ambassador and has been a passionate supporter of the Hyde League, in which we are a founder member, due to how he forged out his career from non-league at Tooting and Mitcham FC through the lower football league to pushing for a Champions League place in the Premier League.

Surprise visit from Michail Antonio
