Canners caught inspiring the young people of Mumbai

Whilst the majority of us have been gearing up for the Christmas and New Years period GMFC ambassador Paul Canoville has been busy inspiring the next generation of football stars in a place where the young people are more accustomed to dreaming of becoming the next big cricket stars, Mumbai!

Canners was in his usual high spirits whilst coaching the young people and giving some priceless advice on what it takes to be a pro!

Check out some of the great snaps from Canners’ trip.

GMFC at the Hyde League Launch

On Monday we were very pleased to attend the Launch of The Hyde League. All of the founding partners were at the event and it was great for everyone to get together ahead of the opening ceremony on the 9th Jan 2016.

The Hyde development league is going to be run by young people for young people. Not only will the league be for aspiring footballers looking to make it into the pro ranks but also for young people who are interested in the sports and leisure industry opportunities to gain first class experience working in a professional environment.

The launch was supported heavily by the PFA and the Jason Roberts foundation with some fantastic speeches from top ex-pros such as Jason Roberts, Bryan and Ed Stein as well as from founders Otis Roberts and Eugene Dwaah.

We also got to see all the teams involved showcasing their new strips for the league.

A special thanks to our ambassador Michail Antonio who kindly gave his time to come down and support GMFC at the event.

Reserves Vs. Development last Friday

We had a fantastic turnout last Friday when we played a GMFC Cobham in house friendly with our Reserves playing against our A team.

We had 36 young men from between the two groups involved and all got a taste of the action at some point.IMG_2917

The game was highly competitive with both sides showing genuine quality and skill. The reserve side ran out eventual winners with a commanding display in the closing part of the game.
