GMFC Presentation Day

On Saturday 20th June, our Under 14’s and Under 15’s had their end of season presentation at Cobham FC, our partner club.

It was a great day for the boys who got to see the first team trials beforehand and get a glimpse of where they could aspire to play in a few years time.

There was a great atmosphere in the clubhouse; both teams were mixing with each other and enjoying the snacks and soft drinks put out for them, talking about who were the best players and teams with lots of banter flying about.

The awards up for grabs for each team were Top Goal Scorer, Most Improved Player, Player’s Player and Manager’s Player of the year.

We started the awards with the Under 14’s presented by Charity Director Errol Bignall handing out the awards to Ricardo Raymond, Charlie Woods, Ronan Medinaj, and Norbert Grabowski.

For the Under 15 awards, their coach Aaron McCan took over the mic to present the awards to the boys. The awards went to James Jordan, Andre Hart, Elyas Mohebzadah, Joel Onu and Adam Wilson.

The day ended with a goodbye from both of our Under 15’s coaches Andy Akamoah and Aaron McCan who, after a fantastic season with the squad, will unfortunately not able to continue with the Under 15’s next year. Both Andy and Aaron have put in some absolutely terrific work with boys this year, building up such a strong team spirit which runs throughout the squad.

GMFC U15 vs Southend U15 Development

On Saturday 13th June, our U15 side took on Southend’s U15 Development team at Southfields College in what turned out to be a very exciting and tense game.

The boys showed fantastic grit and determination to come back from 3 goals down to draw the game 3 – 3.

The first 2 of our goals came from Lionel Dakleu who’s first was absolutely superb, definitely one to remember! Our equalizer came from this seasons joint top scorer, Joel Onu, with only 2 minutes to go.

The boys showed terrific resilience to come from behind to draw against very strong opposition. They played excellent football, expressing themselves on the ball and really showing their qualities as a unit as well.

“The boys played so well, they really did, couldn’t be happier with each and every single one of them: discipline, focus, the football at times, the skill, the encouragement, togetherness, positivity, motivation, energy, work rate, expressing themselves when on the ball, belief, winning the first and second balls”

Head Coach Andy Akamoah

Well done to the boys on a excellent result and we look forward to seeing more from them in the next year!

Brenchley Eagles Fun Day

On Saturday 7th June 2015, The Guy Mascolo Football Charity, in conjunction with Brenchley Eagles Football Club, put on a Fun Day to remember in the picturesque Kent countryside.

A selection of players from BedHead Football Club’s U7/8 sides made the journey down to Kent for a fantastic day of football, food, fun and friends!

The BedHead FC boys were joined by their peers at Brenchley Memorial Playing Fields, and the group as a whole enjoyed some great coaching sessions, provided by 3 BedHead FC coaches.

After the coaching sessions, everyone enjoyed a delicious BBQ whilst soaking up the sun.

Before the finale of matches, the boys were all put through their paces with a selection of skills tests that challenged the boys on their accuracy and technique.

The day ended with a truly entertaining game between BedHead FC and Brenchley Eagles with BedHead FC eventually winning 3 – 2.

Overall it was a brilliant day and everybody involved had an absolutely fantastic time.

The Guy Mascolo Football Charity would like to say a huge thank you to Brenchley Eagles for being such welcoming hosts and to all the families and volunteers involved who made this day such a special event!
